All that glitters: A colour combo that’s golden

Greige

Pantone may be calling it a pink year, but there’s no denying that neutrals – greys, creams and the new kid on the block, ‘greige’, will pretty much always be in style. Sure, pink may be the new black for a season or two, but black will always be, well, black – the stylista’s staple. The same goes for interiors… candy-coloured paint palettes and trendy pops of colour are great ways to update a space but neutrals don’t date. Scared that staying neutral will be a little, well, boring? Well, it’s time to take a little inspiration from the ‘golden’ boys of interior design…

Meet ‘greige’… the heir to the beige & grey throne, and a colour that just begs to be crowned with gold. Greige & Gold is a luxuriously hot colour combination that gives a glamorous edge to the ‘safe’ neutral colour palette.

The home of the head of international design firm Fritz Hansen, Jacob Holm, was recently featured on Emma’s Design Blog and is a testament to the sophisticated elegance and diversity of the greige & gold trend – as at home in an over-the-top, ornate space as it is in Jacob’s sleek, modern, minimalist design.

Still not convinced? Well, I came across a blog, appropriately called Greige that illustrates the colour combo so beautifully, that gold décor items are no longer on my ‘want’ list they’re on my ‘need’ list. Trust me, there’s a room in your home just dying to indulge in a gilt-y pleasure…

It’s exhausting to find educated people on this topic, but you sound like you understand what you’re talking about! Thanks
