Colourful Grey
This city is the worst place to be writing this kind of post today. The whole country is experiencing its first real winter day, which of course means stylishly wrapped scarfs, vintage coats, leather driving gloves and the rare opportunity to don a pair of faux uggs – in public. The reason this is the worst day to be writing about grey is the fact that the mere thought of the colour allows a cold shiver to brave through my trend savvy layered look. To cheer myself up, and of course you, I have found images that use (a bit of) colour to liven up monotone décor.
According to this, which quite frankly read like something someone who looks at strangers’ hands and owns a crystal ball might say, grey is the comeback kid. “You’ll find it used everywhere – on walls, furnishings, textiles and artwork.”
And according to that piece of trend stalking – “where there is grey, there white will be.”
Fleece blankets, magic bottomless coffee – ignoring the fact that I have to get up and make it myself – and wearing my uggs without any judgement are the benefits of this “works from home” gig. All of which I’m grateful for because all this grey talk is making me cold.
Ah, much better. I like that pop of purple in this room it is the equivalent of a “pop in your mouth surprise.” And as the article predicted there shelves are white and so is the ceiling. I like that the windows are big and give generous natural light, which gives the impression of the sun shining in. Somehow that makes the room seem less cold.
On Dulux’s colour forecasts, grey forms part of the “Re-set” group of colours among which there are whites, charcoal and light beiges. The Re-set group of colours is all about simplicity, less and not excess.
I admire people who have kitchens like this one. Kitchens that require constant and precise cleaning… but let’s be honest, I don’t think anyone with a kitchen that looks like this one actually cooks in it. They have a scullery, which acts as a kitchen and this one’s just for show.
Take a look at this grey and white meet yellow bathroom…
… it’s like a little dose of sunshine – and this trend stalker could do with a little faux vitamin D.
