PLAYTIME INSPIRATION
I always look for design inspiration in all places. I’m known to haunt showrooms, open houses and friends’ new flats in search of design excellence and inspiration to write a know-it-all blog post. Style of any kind is a journey of discovery and is best shared, hence this little nook of ours.
I thought I had looked everywhere for inspiration and ideas – including my high school dream journal – until I got an email from The Pop Princess, our friend from The Morning After Blog with these attached.
I was struck by the presence of yellow: the walls, rug and table. It is bright and happy and can be chic and classic when done with the right décor.
Or you can use this colour to embrace the painted ceiling trend and as the song goes: you’ll have sunshine on a cloudy day.
The blue couch set against the green of the sunroom is simply beautiful. Yes, the hippy in me simply loves it.
It looks even better outside in the middle of shrubbery. Maybe you are sitting there quoting your go-to design and décor book or blog that “green and blue don’t go together.” I ask one thing: just look at the picture, do you love it? Then do it. This can be your chance to say screw it to rules.
The minimalist room looks a bit cold I have to admit that it too is quite eye-catching. The aesthetic is simple – colour and wood.
I asked The Pop Princess to move the rug in the yellow-walled room to the minimalist room just to see how it would look.
This is what happened…
The chair looks very Miller’s Antiques-esque.
Okay call me petty but I am jealous of this animated doll! I know it’s just a cartoon in jean shorts and bunny slippers but it has a great closet! That’s more room than I have any hope of ever having for my precious frocks.
Even the shoes have their own section! What I would do for one of these!
These screenshots have showed me two things: playtime gets better as generations progress and that the trend-stalking business is in good hands.
Bravo Pop Princess. Bravo.
