Window Treatments: What’s really hot
It’s often nice – rare as it may be – when somebody else does all of my trend stalking for me. When typing a keyword I say: “curtain advice from experts” and it brings to my awaiting loving arms this gem of an article detailing the top ten trends in window treatments.
I must admit that I found the list appealing because of the keywords, luxe fabrics (fuel for my day dreams), colour, bold print and of course the minimalist sleek lines. You may remember me waxing lyrical about beautiful hangings before. This time is different, I am just a humble observer of trends bringing them to your attention, regardless of how low on the chic-o-meter they may be **cough, blinds**
Manufacturers of great window treatments Smith + Noble have reported (according to the article) “an extreme popularity of bold prints and stripes across all product lines.”
Who doesn’t love a beautiful bold print? Or an abstract one to show off their personality and mood, and oh please let’s all admit that the only time we’ve ever bought fabric is because the print was so interesting.
A bit zebra but works beautifully with the room and I’m willing to put my Nine West winter boots at stake and say it is the personality of the owner curtainified. Brave indeed.
Yesterday it was World Environment day, and I am always grateful to all of those design and décor lovers who do their best to put their greenest finger forward. Like with other popular trend in window treatments – honeycomb panels and blinds.
It matters not how much we try to simplify and cut down in our lives, luxury is still very, well, luxurious and alluring…. The go to fabrics in this category are silks and furs (I just can’t see it) with beautifully bejewelled tassels. I can’t help but think of a royal four-poster bed with hangings.
One of the comeback kids is bamboo, with most people going back to nature because of its green benefits and overall sustainability. It is much easier to reuse wood ‘cos it’s biodegradable, unlike the metallic hardware.
Just one question before I log off: “Are you happy with the view of your window?”
